Fed Reserve Buying Up US Treasuries--What do you think???

The Federal Reserve Bank has announced that it will begin purchasing US Treasury Bonds from the US Treasury. Typically the US Treasury will put these out for auction and someone else will come in and purchase them, like China for example.

This struck me as very odd.

So my question is what do you make of this?

Tax Day Tea Party--The Revolution Is Growing

So it looks as though the Tea Party movement is gaining steam nationwide. There are now 150 Tea Parties scheduled nationwide for April 15th 2009, Tax day. So if you are sick of how the federal government is spending our money you need to join in protest. I have a feeling that these parties are going to blow Washington's mind. You definately want to be part of this.

Given the current status of the country I thought these 2 quotes would be fitting. Our founding fathers were a smart bunch.

"We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt" -Thomas Jefferson

"To contract new debts is not the way to pay for old ones" -George Washington

I could find many more fitting quotes, but I won't, I just want you to think about those 2 and reflect on them.

Our government is currently doing what our founding fathers said it shouldn't. We are passing a huge burden onto our children and our grandchildren.

We have allowed government to grow so large, that people feel like there is nothing they can do. We need to remember that our government answers to US not the other way around. We must make our voices heard before it is too late.

Patrick Henry said: "Our constitution is...an instrument for it's people to restrain the government". However, we are allowing them to erode our rights and act in ways that serve their interests instead of ours.

I often sit and wonder at what point Americans are going to wake up and finally realize the magnitude of what is going on. Will this happen when it is too late? When we have lost all of our rights and are powerless to do nothing?

Currently, we hold all the power, we outnumber them...We just need to stand up and make our voice heard, while there is still time to make a difference!

GM BANKRUPTCY???

Well here it is...The news that everyone assumed would never happen because Uncle Sam came to the rescue! "GM auditors raise doubts about viability, Bankruptcy Possible". Read the entire article here.

I have been been talking about this happening for a while. This is a prime example on why the government should not get involved in bailing out private companies. While the bankruptcy of GM would not be pretty, it is a company that needs to take accountability for it's actions. The free market has a way of dealing with things like this. For example another stronger company could be born (out of there collapse), or a merger between GM and one of the other companies could take place. The government throwing taxpayer money at a failing company does not do anything except delay the inevitable and risk OUR money! This is becoming increasingly evident as things are not getting better at GM, they are getting WORSE!

The downturn in the economy is just the nail in the coffin for GM, they have been struggling for years. In the last 3 years GM has racked up 82 billion in losses!!! 30.9 Billion just in 2008!!!

GM has already received 13.4 billion in federal loans and is seeking 30 billion from the government now. The goverment is basically keeping GM operating and we are on the hook for all of this money!

The reality of this, is that to date, although they are not doing well, FORD, has not taken a dime of taxpayer money. If GM was allowed to fail, Ford could emerge as the big winner (possibly taking over the entire GM operation) and emerge as a strong automaker that will put the USA in the #1 spot again.

Just because we are already on the hook for billions doesnt mean we have to throw more at this problem in the hopes that it will turn out ok. Chances are it will not. Cut our losses now! Let GM be accountable for it's actions! Keep the government out...They have a hard enough time making good decisions when it comes to running the country, what makes you think they know what there doing with GM, except answering to lobbyists!!!

S. African couple drives 170 km with spitting cobra in car

Now this is bizarre...The news article here states that a South African couple drove 170 km with a highly venomous spitting cobra in their car. The 69 year old man thought at first it was an insect and swiped it away, but soon realized after looking down that it was a cobra next to his leg. The article goes on to say that the couple made several more stops during their drive to remove the snake but were unable to find it.

I don't know about you, but if I was driving down the road and noticed that a cobra was next to my leg, I think I would have passed out and probably hit a tree! I absolutely hate snakes! If I did manage however, to survive the actual shock of the discovery of the snake and made my way out of the car, the last thing I would have ever done was gotten back in!!!

But that's just me....

Don't Mess With my McNuggets!

I am at a loss for words...I was reading the news and came across this story:

FORT PIERCE, Fla. – Authorities say a Florida woman
called 911 three times after McDonald's employees told her they were out of
McNuggets. A police report said 27-year-old Fort Pierce resident Latreasa L.
Goodman told authorities she paid for a 10-piece last week but was later
informed the restaurant had run out.
She says she was refused a refund and
told all sales were final. A cashier told police she offered Goodman a larger
portion of different food for the same price, but Goodman became irate.
Police say Goodman was cited on a misuse of 911 charge. A current phone
listing for Goodman couldn't be found.
A McDonald's spokesman says Goodman
should have been given a refund, and she's being sent a gift card for a free
meal.

Wow!!! This movie looks great. I just watched the trailer and can't wait for it to come out. It looks super scary, and it is based on a true story!

New Blog & First Post

So here it is...My blog!!!

I have been wanting to create a blog for a while now, but have kept putting it off, until today. I figured a day off due to the snow storm was a great time to do it.

We received about about a foot of snow from the March Nor'Easter and now that the snow has stopped the cold is going to set in for a few days. I think this is winters last hoorah. I have a feeling that spring is right around the corner.

As for the blog, I am hoping to talk about a wide range of topics and hope to spur some good discussion. Please comment whenever you feel inclined too and let me know what you think. I am sure I will tweak things a number of times since this is the first time I have done this. I hope you enjoy!
